Shape the future of IBM watsonx Orchestrate

Start by searching and reviewing ideas others have posted, and add a comment (private if needed), vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you.

If you can't find what you are looking for, create a new idea:

  1. stick to one feature enhancement per idea

  2. add as much detail as possible, including use-case, examples & screenshots (put anything confidential in Hidden details field or a private comment)

  3. Explain business impact and timeline of project being affected

[For IBMers] Add customer/project name, details & timeline in Hidden details field or a private comment (only visible to you and the IBM product team).

This all helps to scope and prioritize your idea among many other good ones. Thank you for your feedback!

IGNITION-SENTINEL — Wildfire ignition-risk sensing agent for distribution grids

IGNITION-SENTINEL — Wildfire ignition-risk sensing agent for distribution grids

Problem: Wildfires ignited by electric grid infrastructure are no longer a California-only story. NERC's April 2026 draft wildfire report lays out a roadmap pushing toward expanding mandatory vegetation management to 100–199 kV transmission lines and explicitly endorses geospatial AI and remote sensing for vegetation proximity modeling and risk forecasting. Most utilities still infer ignition risk the old way — manually correlating customer calls, alarms, and evidence across systems after the fact.

Idea: Add a watsonx Orchestrate agent that consumes grid-edge waveform endpoints (the Itron–PG&E Grid Edge Intelligence pattern: detect, classify, and pinpoint fault indicators on medium-voltage circuits and low-voltage segments before outages occur), LiDAR and satellite vegetation-encroachment feeds, and weather data — producing per-circuit ignition risk scores with recommended actions: sectionalize, patrol, or pre-emptive de-energization, each with an auditable evidence trail for regulators. Every de-energization requires human authorization; the agent never cuts power on its own.

Value: Ignition risk gets managed before the 911 call comes in (PG&E's Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings cut reportable ignitions 72% in 2024 by acting on risk, not reports), hardening dollars flow to scored risk instead of blanket programs, and regulators get auditable pre-event records that prove diligence rather than luck.
