Shape the future of IBM watsonx Orchestrate

Start by searching and reviewing ideas others have posted, and add a comment (private if needed), vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you.

If you can't find what you are looking for, create a new idea:

  1. stick to one feature enhancement per idea

  2. add as much detail as possible, including use-case, examples & screenshots (put anything confidential in Hidden details field or a private comment)

  3. Explain business impact and timeline of project being affected

[For IBMers] Add customer/project name, details & timeline in Hidden details field or a private comment (only visible to you and the IBM product team).

This all helps to scope and prioritize your idea among many other good ones. Thank you for your feedback!

ASSET-ORACLE — Transformer and substation health agent with months-ahead failure prediction

ASSET-ORACLE — Transformer and substation health agent with months-ahead failure prediction

Problem: Utilities collect asset-health data — temperature, vibration, dissolved-gas analysis — but never correlate it with weather or load patterns, so transformer and substation failures arrive as emergencies. Meanwhile power plants using predictive analytics have reduced forced outages by up to 40%, and utilities report up to 25% reliability gains and 43–56% maintenance cost reductions (McKinsey/Argonne). The gap is analytical, not sensor: the data exists, the correlation agent does not.

Idea: Add a watsonx Orchestrate agent that correlates substation sensor streams with load and weather history, scores months-ahead failure probability per asset, and drafts work orders complete with parts-availability checks and outage-window optimization — routed to a planner who must approve before any switching action is taken. The pattern is field-proven: PG&E's ML models cut unplanned downtime by 30% using historical performance plus real-time sensor data, and Duke Energy processes more than 85 billion grid-sensor data points a year for maintenance scheduling.

Value: Failures become scheduled maintenance instead of midnight emergencies, capital planning gets evidence-grade asset forecasts, and emergency repair costs plus reliability penalties fall in the same quarter the agent goes live.
