Functionality to retrieve the outputs of a workflow directly within the assistant

Currently, it is not possible to retrieve the outputs of a workflow directly within the assistant. As a result, functionalities like parallel processing cannot be used to execute the workflow as a subaction, saving the output variables as assistant variables. These variables could then be used in subsequent actions or as conditions to determine the next steps within the same action.

In our case, this limitation posed a challenge in developing a project for our client. To save time in the assistant's response, the client wanted to parallelize two Watsonx calls. This feature would have been highly beneficial in achieving their desired outcome.

Yes, I tried the AI agent chat and, in spite of the possibility of using workflows and the assistant separately in this chat, you can't save the output of the workflow as assistant variables and, therefore, you can't use them in the Assistant's actions.

Note that asynch skills (eg workflows) are only supported from the new AI agent chat , whether called through an assistant or directly.

Can you confirm that is where you see the workflow come back but without being able to map outputs back to the assistant variables?
